John WaldronSLC President Rensselaer, |
Research Interests:My research is based in developing a process compatible to fabricating GaN LEDs, control logic and power transistors in a monolithic power IC. Current work is focused on developing an efficient form of GaN-based logic (CMOS) and fabricating a novel MOS-gated HEMT capable of blocking more than 600V, yet having a specific on resistance less than 30mOhms-cm^2. |
Mike RahaimSLC Vice President Boston University, |
Research Interests:My research is in the area of Visible Light Communication (VLC). I am interested software defined, cognitive communication systems for intelligent and adaptable communication. My current work includes analysis of cooperative wireless systems including broadcast VLC in collaboration with RF WLAN's. |
Jiawei XuSLC Webmaster University of New Mexico, |
Research Interests:My research focuses on various techniques as for readout integrated circuits, which transfer light signal detected by the sensor into electrical signal for further processing. We are currently working on projects which can meet the needs of various ERC applications such as lenseless microscope, smart lighting room and so forth. |
Juan BorjaSLC Treasurer Rensselaer, |
Research Interests:My group is developing a TiO2 nanorod film coupled with UV-LEDs for various applications including water purification. We are improving current technology by replacing UV lamps and filters with TiO2-UV LEDs. This results in a clean and energy efficient operation. We use the germicidal properties of UV light and boost its power. TiO2 increases the decomposition of impurities when excited by UV radiation. At the same time TiO2 films can be inexpensively added to UV-LED platforms. |
Aloka KhannaSLC Secretary Rensselaer, |
Research Interests:My research focuses on developing efficient phosphor materials for white LEDs required in Solid State Lighting systems. Currently I am working on improving the performance of these materials at high junction temperatures of the LEDs. Also, to reduce scattering losses we are working on synthesis of phosphor single crystals. |
Tanuj SaxenSLC RPI Chair Rensselaer, |
Research Interests:My research focuses on surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices and sensors. I am currently investigating the use of III-V semiconductors for the development of highly sensitive visible light SAW sensors. |
Lucy YanSLC BU Chair Boston University |
Research Interests:Coming Soon. |
Ashwin Krishnan RishinaramangalamSLC UNM Chair University of New Mexico, |
Research Interests:Revolutionary, co-axial LED design based on a scalable, repeatable and industrially viable Gallium Nitride growth process. This has the potential to deliver performance improvements in many of the LED parameters that are critical for the various Smart Lighting thrusts. My other research interests include semiconductor processing, characterization and modeling. |
