The The ERC organizes its research into three thrusts, plus Testbeds and Translational Projects. Please visit the Research Tab of this website for more information about each thrust. Please specify your first and second choice of Research Thrust Area on your application.

Research projects will be availible in the following areas:

Ken Connor Education Focus Integration of technology and mathematics Secondary education major with science, technology, mathematics or engineering.
Agung Julius CC&S* Systems and control theory Strong background in C++ and Matlab
Leila Parsa CC&S* Development of Offline LED Drivers for SMART Lighting Applications Electrical Engineering  with experience in hardware design. Knowledge of analog circuit design with a background in power electronics and knowledge in PCB design is preferable.

John Wen, Arthur Sanderson and Sandipan Mishra CC&S* Modeling, optimization and control for dynamical systems for adaptive lighting space Strong computer science skills and experience with hardware sensor systems. Electrical engineering major with understanding of sensor networks.
John Wen CC&S* Regulation of lighting for biological systems Interest working with a biological species such as fruit flies.
Joel Plawsky CC&S* Air purification by photocatalysis Chemical or Materials Engineering
Mona Hella Sensors Sensors Electrical Engineering or Physics (complete three year undergraduate study preferred)
Paul Chow Sources Semiconductor devices and characterization Electrical Engineering or Physics
Christian Wetzel Sources Photonic-electric energy conversion Optical or electrical engineers
Ken Simons Translational Tracking the Evolving Solid State Lighting Industry Strong interest in business/economics.  Preferred skills: good writing skills; programming using regular expressions, text processing, web scraping, and OCR; experience with library research and patent data searches.
